Position:1. General Service Officer

Location: Addis Ababa

Employment: Full Time

Number of Positions: 1

Position Overview: The General Service Officer will ensure the efficient flow of materials and the smooth operation of MERQ’s office environment. This position is responsible for the meticulous management of inventory, the coordination of office functions, and the provision of essential support to various departments

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Office Support

  • Perform a range of clerical duties, including filing, photocopying, printing, and document preparation.
  • Monitor office supply levels, proactively identifying and addressing shortages by placing orders or coordinating with relevant personnel.
  • Address office-related malfunctions and respond to requests or issues promptly to ensure equipment is functioning correctly and minimize disruptions.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Provide support to Logistics, Procurement, and HR departments as required, assisting with administrative tasks and document preparation.
  • Greet and assist all visitors, clients, and vendors upon arrival, providing a professional and welcoming point of contact for the office.
  • Answer phone calls, take messages, and direct inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of company events, meetings, and travel arrangements for staff members, including venue booking, catering, and logistic

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Art (BA) in any field with 0 experience or Diploma in any field with at least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word & Excel).
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Networking and negotiation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.

Position:2. Finance Intern

Scope of work: The Finance Intern will work under the supervision of the Finance Manager, with the following scope of activities:

  • Assist with the primary review of financial documents
  • Bank payment processing
  • Putting “paid” stamps on final financial documents
  • Support on financial document archives
  • Support with audit preparation
  • Support day to day accounting and finance tasks
  • Support day to day admin and grant management tasks
  • Support with various project admin tasks such as printing/copying/scanning of documents, training coordination, collecting proforma/invoices
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the supervisor or designated manager.

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Reports to: Finance Manager

Position Type: Full-time
